Reiki Courses

Reiki as taught by Usui Sensei was a path of self-healing and self-development. The ability to heal others was not the focus, it was more of a happy side effect! As a system, Reiki was intended to be actively learnt, rather than only received in a passive fashion. 'Empowerments' or 'attunements' connect you to the source of Reiki energy. This is a permanent connection, you will never lose the ability to channel this healing energy. You can call it any time and so give yourself regular treatments (I usually give myself a treatment every day). You can also treat others, which of course is extremely rewarding.

I believe that to receive a truly life changing, healing experience with Reiki, courses are the best option. Many people are aware of a great release after their course, sometimes this is an emotional release, sometimes they simply feel relieved of a weight they have been carrying on their shoulders. Still others experience just the sense of empowerment and boosted energy from being connected to Reiki, or the satisfaction of feeling a part of something much bigger than themselves. For most of us it marks the beginning of a new period in our lives, as we find the strength to shrug off that which is no longer needed, and the clarity to make decisions and move forward.

The best way to learn how to work with Reiki is by doing it! This is why my intensive workshops are so practical. Manuals and CDs are sent out prior to the course, and you will need to complete a few hours of pre-course study at every level. This is to ensure that you have an understanding of the basic principles, and that you won't have to sit and listen to me talk about the history of Reiki on the day! I will go over the main points briefly and there will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions, but for most of the course you will be either receiving your empowerments or learning how to work with the energy yourself.

For those who have started their training in a different Reiki lineage, depending on your previous course contents, you may need to work through some 'Conversion Course' materials. These are provided at a minimal cost of £10 per course - if you are planning to study Reiki II with me after doing your initial training elsewhere you will need to familiarise yourself with the Reiki I materials first (allow a week for this), if you wish to join my Reiki Master Teacher training course from a different lineage, you will need to familiarise yourself with the Reiki I and II materials (allow two weeks for this). I teach only in very small classes in my intimate healing space on the borders of London and Kent; there is plenty of opportunity to discuss your experiences with the group, and every member of the group will receive attention throughout the day. Nonetheless, the course won't cover everything you need to know! Reiki is experiential and you will no doubt have more questions or stories to share as you work with the energy after your course. I offer ongoing support by phone and by email, regular newsletters to keep you up to date, and the opportunity to join a large online forum for Reiki people to discuss your journey with like-minded people.

Reiki 1 Course - 'Shoden' (one day intensive)

This course will introduce and connect you to the energy. The pre-course reading will introduce you to the history of Reiki and how it came to reach us here in the West, as well as some of the key techniqes covered in the workshop. On the day you will learn:

• how to feel your own and other people's energy fields
• the hatsurei ho meditation, actively channeling and strengthening your connection to the energy
• the Usui self treatment meditation technique
• how to 'scan' the body to find areas in need of Reiki energy
• how to give a full body treatment

These workshops are very practical, and as well as practicing meditations and techniques, you will give and receive a full Reiki treatment by the end of the day.

No previous healing experience is required. Please book at least one week in advance to allow time for the pre-course study.

Reiki 2 Course - 'Okuden' (one day intensive)

A more in depth course; please allow at least one month between Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 as this course builds on a foundation of energy work and self healing. On this course we will explore more advanced techniques, and you will learn:

• the Reiki symbols and their use in meditations and in treatments
• techniques to make your Reiki stronger and improve your focus when treating others
• different ways to send Reiki energy
• the power of intent
• distance healing techniques
• how to move away from the standard treatment format given at Reiki 1, and work entirely intuitively

This is a practitioner level course, which prepares you to practice Reiki professionally if you wish. Please book your place at least one week in advance to allow time for the pre-course study.

Reiki Master Teacher Level Course - 'Shinpiden' (two day intensive)

Working with the Master energies gives a deeper understanding of Reiki - in terms of the energy itself, your own healing journey with Reiki and how to use the energy when doing healing work with others. This course is suited to those who have been working regularly Reiki, as workshops are intensive and the materials (comprehensive manual, 2 CDs and a DVD) cover a wide range of knowledge and techniques.

During the course you will learn:

• Usui's original system and how we can echo his approach as modern day Reiki masters
• the original Usui and the 'Tibetan' master symbols
• how to attune people to Reiki in the Western Reiki approach
• how to give Reiju empowerments, the Japanese method of connecting students to the Reiki source
• how to work with a number of other symbols
• ways to work to heal others at soul level
• the Reiki Kotodama, or Jumon - sacred sounds
• the importance of intent, and how to give Reiki through intention alone
• methods for self empowerment
• how to build even further on your intuitive practice

This intensive workshop takes place over two Saturdays, you will need to book your place on the course at least one month in advance to allow for the preparation work.

Cord cutting with Reiki

My current biggest passion, spurred on by my brilliant experiences with Reiki Drum, is the uniting of Reiki and traditional Shamanic techniques. Given the importance of the influence of Shinto on Usui Sensei, and that part of the original symbol for Reiki means 'Shaman who brings the rain' (female Shaman, actually!) it shouldn't surpise any of us that Reiki is more and more coming to be thought of as a form of Shamanism. The more I am learning from my Spirit teachers, the more ways I see for these two different ways of working to be united with great effect. This has led to my creating workshops on the Shamanic approach to Reiki.

The first is 'Cord Cutting with Reiki', a new and unique approach to severing energetic ties to people, illnesses or situations which sap us of our energy and do not assist us on our path to self healing. There are some positive connections between us and the world, of course, and these can be left intact while cutting the ties to the negative aspects of our relationships to the world.

As a Shamanic practitioner I have cut cords between people and substances they are addicted to, ex partners they cannot get over, parents and siblings where there are negative behavioural patterns that feel impossible to get out of, long term illnesses, damaging situations...the list of issues that cord cutting can assist with is potentially unlimited.

Cord cutting is a traditional Shamanic technique that has proven its effectiveness over and over again, in indigenous cultures and among modern day Western practitioners. I have now put together an effective way of cutting cords for Reiki practitioners, so that you can start adding this powerful new dimension to your practice right away.

The course is a one day workshop, and it includes:

• Reiju empowerment
• Explaining energetic cords from a traditional shamanic perspective
• See how restrictive and draining negative connections can be
• Drum journey to see the cords in your own body
• A compassionate, Reiki based approach to severing cords
• Exploring detachment - to leave or cut cords?

The course runs from 9.30am - 5.30pm with a break for lunch, and is accompanied by a workbook with all the information you receive on the day, plus some further ideas to explore in your own time.

This course is suitable for Reiki people of all lineages, but students must have reached Reiki 2 (Okuden) level or above to do this course.

Removing blockages with Reiki

Following on from the great success of the Reiki Cord Cutting workshop, I have created another unique course bringing together the two powerful healing modalities of Reiki and Shamanism. In our work as Reiki practitioners we bring ourselves and our clients into balance. In my work as a shamanic practitioner I have also done a great deal of 'extraction' work for healing. This involves locating blockages within the client's energy body and removing them, filling the void that is left with healing energy. Blockages can have many root causes - stress, negative belief patterns, mental or emotional trauma, injury, a previous illness. These energetic blockages stop the natural flow of energy moving through the body, and can lead to feelings of tiredness, disconnection, and eventually illness if left unresolved.

On this workshop you will learn about traditional shamanic methods of extraction and see how I have softened the approach so that, while the method retains it's power by drawing out the blockage, the client is gently healed with the naturally balancing energy of Reiki.

The course also develops your intuitive potential as you learn to perceive blockages in others and in your own body, and I have expanded the method to include powerful meditations and self treatments. After attending this workshop you will not only be ready to start adding a new dimension to your work with others, but you will leave with a powerful tool for self healing and personal transformation.

Shamanic Journeying: A practical workshop for Reiki people

A two day course in the shamanic art of journeying into non ordinary reality. This course is designed to help Reiki people deepen their relationship with Spirit, no previous experience in journeying or shamanism is required and it is suitable for Reiki 1 and above. Journeying helps us with our psychic development, and helps to build a strong relationship with spirit guides who can assist us in our personal development and healing, as well as opening the door to assist us in our healing work with other people.

The non residential weekend includes:

Day one:

• Understanding the role of journeying in Shamanism
• Why would Reiki people want to learn to journey?
• Introduction to the three worlds
• The Middle World and the secret garden
• Loosening up and losing inhibitions with Reiki Undo – practical exercise
• Reiki Drum journey to the secret garden – practical exercise
• Differences between Reiki Drum journeying and shamanic journeying
• Drumming and rattling in shamanic journeying
• The power of movement – practical exercise
• The Lower World
• Power animals
• Shamanic journey to the Lower World to meet your power animal – practical exercise

Day two:

• Reiki Undo moving into drumming & rattling – practical exercise
• The Upper World
• Spirit teachers
• Reiki Drum joiurney to the Upper World – practical exercise
• Journeying as a tool to retrieve information and receive guidance
• Shamanic journey to receive guidance for yourself – practical exercise
• How journeying can be added to your Reiki practice
• The ethics of journeying
• How to journey to retrieve information for others
• Journeying to retrieve information for your partner, and allowing your partner to seek guidance for you – practical exercise
• Continuing to develop your journeying skills

As you can see it is a full and very practical weekend! The cost of the weekend is £180 and places are very limited. The course is open to Reiki people of any lineage and at any level, no sahamanic, psychic or journeying experience is required.

Reiki & Law of Attraction: Mental & Emotional Reprogramming

This course is an introduction to drawing on our existing knowledge of Reiki and our regular practice, to use this in association with the principles of the Law of Attraction. We will be learning to combine Reiki with positive affirmations to create change in any and all areas of your life.

This short course covers:

• Basic principles of the Law of Attraction
• Positive affirmations
• Nentatsu ho - reprogramming your own thoughts
• The mental/emotional reprogramming technique - to work with your friends & clients
• Healing language - empowering clients through the process
• Integrating the principles through out your life - moving forward with positive thinking

The workshop runs from 2-6pm, usually on a Sunday afternoon. This course is limited to small numbers to advance booking is recommended.

Reiki & Law of Attraction: Body Awareness

The second course in the 'Reiki & Law of Attraction' series, which takes our ability to choose our thoughts and manifest them further, by more clearly identifying the interactions between our thoughts, energy and bodies. In this course we will understand how immense our control is over our physical and energy bodies, concentrating on listening to our body's messages, finding where we hold our beliefs for powerful and targeted Reiki healing.

The afternoon is primarily focused on self healing, although there will be discussion on how to adapt the methods to work more effectively with clients.

This short course lasts from 2pm-6pm, usually on a Sunday afternoon.
